Many believers struggle with guilt, shame, and the feeling that they are never good enough for God. Yet, the gospel tells a different story. Through Jesus Christ, we have been set free from condemnation and given a new identity rooted in righteousness. One of the greatest truths every Christian must understand is that God relates to us through the finished work of Christ, not through our past mistakes or personal achievements.
There Is No Condemnation in Christ
Romans 8:1 declares: “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.”
This is more than a comforting statement it is a spiritual reality. Because Jesus paid the full price for sin, believers no longer live under the sentence of guilt. Instead, we stand before God accepted, forgiven, and justified. John 3:16 reminds us of God’s incredible love. He did not send His Son to condemn the world but to save it. Salvation is God’s invitation into a relationship built on grace rather than fear.
You Are the Righteousness of God
One of the most powerful scriptures on identity is 2 Corinthians 5:21: “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”
Notice that Scripture does not say we are becoming righteous through our own efforts. It says we have become the righteousness of God in Christ. This righteousness is a gift received by faith. When we truly understand this identity, we stop living as defeated Christians and begin walking confidently as children of God.
Authority Is Released in What We Say
During Transformation Hour, Pastor Femi emphasized that authority is released through our words.
Our confession should always agree with God’s Word. Instead of constantly speaking failure, fear, or condemnation, we should declare God’s truth over our lives. Jesus taught that believers carry His authority. In John 14:12, He said those who believe in Him would continue His works. Before ascending to heaven, He commissioned His disciples in Matthew 28:19–20 to go into the world and make disciples. This assignment requires believers who understand both their identity and their authority. Our words should reflect heaven’s perspective because faith is expressed through what we believe and what we speak.
Worship Flows from Identity
John 4:24 tells us that God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.
True worship comes from understanding who God is and who we are in Him. When we know we are accepted by grace, worship becomes an expression of gratitude instead of an attempt to earn God’s approval.
Live with Confidence
Romans 10:4 tells us that Christ is the fulfillment of the law for everyone who believes. We no longer strive to earn righteousness because Jesus has already accomplished what we could never achieve.
Psalm 5:12 reminds us that God’s favor surrounds the righteous like a shield. Since we have been made righteous through Christ, we can walk daily with confidence, knowing that God’s favor and protection are upon us.
Freedom from condemnation begins with understanding your identity. When you know you are righteous in Christ, your words carry authority, your worship becomes genuine, and your life reflects the victory Christ has already secured.
