Many believers pray for breakthroughs, healing, peace, and victory, yet continue to live as though they are powerless against life’s challenges. The truth is that God never intended for His children to live defeated lives. Through Jesus Christ, believers have been given spiritual authority to overcome the works of the enemy and walk in victory.

During a recent Evident Faith Ministries teaching, Pastor Femi reminded believers of a powerful truth: you are not helpless; you have authority in Christ.

The Problem of Ignorance

The Bible says in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Many Christians suffer unnecessarily, not because God has abandoned them, but because they are unaware of what Christ has already provided for them.

Knowledge is the doorway to authority. When believers understand God’s Word, they can confidently stand against fear, sickness, lack, and every attack of the enemy.

God Is Not the Author of Evil

One of the most important truths emphasized during the teaching was that God does not send sickness, tragedy, or suffering to teach His children lessons.

James 1:13 clearly states that God does not tempt anyone with evil. Jesus Himself revealed the source of destruction in John 10:10 when He said, “The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy; I have come that they may have life.”

While God can bring good out of difficult situations, He is not the source of those difficulties. His nature is good, loving, and life giving.

Authority Restored Through Jesus

In the beginning, God gave humanity dominion over the earth. However, Adam and Eve surrendered that authority through disobedience. The good news is that Jesus came to restore what was lost.

After His resurrection, Jesus declared, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me” (Matthew 28:18). He then commissioned His followers to go in His name and exercise that authority.

As believers, we are not operating in our own strength. We operate under the authority of Christ Himself.

Walking in Your Authority

Authority is exercised through faith and obedience to God’s Word. Instead of accepting defeat, believers must learn to stand on God’s promises and declare them boldly.

You have authority to pray.
You have authority to resist the enemy.
You have authority to speak God’s promises over your life.

The question is not whether God has given you authority. The question is whether you are using it.

Final Thought

God has equipped every believer with the authority necessary to live victoriously. Stop seeing yourself as a victim of circumstances. Through Christ, you have been empowered to overcome.

Walk in that authority today.
Speak God’s Word boldly.
Believe His promises completely.

Victory belongs to those who know who they are in Christ.
