Change of Story through the Glory

At its core, Glory can be defined as the manifested goodness, power, and presence of God. It is the radiant display of God’s divine attributes, a tangible expression of His majesty. To comprehend the transformative potential of Glory, let us reflect on the referenced Bible verses.

Luke 2:9-11 (NIV) – “An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.'”

This passage recounts the birth of Jesus, where the Glory of the Lord illuminated the darkened skies, heralding the arrival of the Savior. The Glory of God, in this context, symbolizes the divine intervention that forever changed the course of human history.

Romans 3:23 (NIV) – “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

This verse serves as a reminder of the fallen nature of humanity. It highlights our separation from the Glory of God due to sin. Yet, the overarching narrative of the Bible is one of redemption, showcasing God’s plan to restore mankind to His Glory.

Luke 2:28-32 (NIV) – “Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: ‘Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.'”

In this moment, Simeon recognizes Jesus as the fulfillment of God’s promise—a light to the nations and the Glory of Israel. The Glory of God, once veiled, is now revealed in the person of Jesus Christ, ushering in a new era of salvation.

As we embrace the Glory of God, we participate in a change of story—a story marked by redemption, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Our brokenness is exchanged for wholeness, and our separation from God is bridged through the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ.
